INSTREAMER (US Package 110V, micro USB type)
INSTREAMER (US Package 110V, micro USB type)
The new Instreamer is an enhanced version of the Instreamer 100, the IP audio encoder used in thousands of installations worldwide. It is a versatile, network-capable, generic analog audio encoder device for IP environments, suitable for audio distribution, broadcast control and transmission, security and industrial purposes.
It has a standard firmware, but can also be programmed by Barix and integrators to meet special requirements for non-standard applications. An example is the Barix SIP application, which turns the Instreamer into an audio or call line in surveillance systems.
Instreamer can be easily configured and managed via a web browser. A link in the user interface allows you to directly listen to the audio source in real time.
Applications
- Encoder for live internet radio applications
- Reliable monitoring of streaming applications
- Encoder for IP audio distribution systems.
- Background music and music on hold for IP telephony systems
- Streaming out loud/Icecast
- Low-latency multicast multichannel audio distribution for video walls
Characteristics
- Standalone IP audio encoder with support for MP3, PCM and G.711 (ulaw/aLaw) codecs. The new model adds support for G.722 (for VoIP applications) and the possibility of encoding MP3 in CBR (for web radios)
- Supports IP transmission standards such as TCP/IP, RTP, SIP, Shoutcast, Multicast
- Easy device management via browser, with SNMP monitoring capability
- Developed in Switzerland by Barix, internationally known for its reliable IP Streaming products for over 10 years.
- The new model's analog audio is of such high quality that the SPDIF input is ruled out.
- Very low power requirements. To meet the latest energy efficiency standards, we have changed the power input to a micro USB (standardized) (5V 1A)
Application software available
There are several firmware-specific application packages with different feature sets available that can be installed on Instreamer devices. Here is a partial list of available firmware packages:
- Generic IP audio encoder with a Shoutcast/Icecast source, generating metadata including TCP, RTP, Shoutcast, HTTP and multicast interfaces.
- Surveillance encoder with over/under modulation monitoring and SNMP trap alerts
- Hearing safety device, environmental audio monitor
- Background music/Music on hold for VoIP phone systems and paging systems
Typical features of the software (details in the description of each program) are as follows:
- Streaming support with UDP, RTP, TCP, Multicast
- Web browser based configuration and user interface
- Control interface via serial, TCP, UDP, CGI
- User programmable in ABCL (Barix Audio Control Language, which is very similar to BASIC)
